One of Chill Out Divers ongoing projects is to try and help keep the reefs healthy and abundant with marine life. Starting this season, we will be designing and installing wooden reef cages at one of our local dive sites. The cages will be made using local renewable resources, and will be used to attract juvenile fish into a protective area, much like the reef does. The idea was first seen by Alex in Borneo, where some resorts have made large artificial reef areas with the cages, which are now teeming with marine life.
Guests will be able to assist us in the building and installation of the reef cages if they would like, or could make a small donation to help us buy the materials.
